Building More Than a House

A home provides more than shelter. It provides stability for families, opportunity for children, and a foundation for the future. Our Homeownership Program helps hardworking families achieve the dream of owning a safe, affordable home while building long-term financial stability and independence.

For more than 35 years, Habitat for Humanity Northeast Michigan has partnered with local families to create affordable homeownership opportunities throughout Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency, Oscoda, and Presque Isle counties.

Because everyone deserves a place to call home.

What Homeownership Means

A home is more than four walls and a roof. It means:

  • Security

  • Stability

  • Independence

  • Pride

  • Hope for the future

  • A place to build memories

  • A community to belong to

For many families, homeownership creates opportunities that can impact generations to come.

How It Works

Habitat for Humanity Northeast Michigan partners with families who demonstrate a need for affordable housing and are willing to actively participate in the homeownership process.

Selected families work alongside Habitat throughout their journey to homeownership by completing required program participation activities and homeownership education.

Once completed, families purchase their homes through an affordable financing structure designed to create sustainable, long-term homeownership. Monthly payments are reinvested into future Habitat projects, helping additional families achieve the same opportunity.

It's not a handout,
it's a partnership
